These instuctions are often found below the edit box. Common mistakes are including one '''"''' instead of two '''<nowiki>''</nowiki>''' for italic text, and two underscores ('''__''') instead of ('''<nowiki>'''</nowiki>''') for bold text, (without the parentheses of course).  You can practice your skills as much as you need in the [[SandBox]] and no one will yell at you for screwing it up because it is just a test page for people to practice.  If you are editting a specific page and want to know how it looks before submitting it use the "preview" button that is just above the "save" button.

What Is A Wiki?

A Wiki is a user created database of pages with useful information. In this Shareaza Wiki, we have already compiled a huge database of pages helping you get the best experience possible from Shareaza. This specific wiki is powered by MediaWiki - the same type of wiki as wikipedia

What can I expect from this Wiki?

You can find hundreds of pages ranging from troubleshooting to tips and tricks about Shareaza. You may even find a little Shareaza history somewhere in here. This, along with the forums, should help you find anything you may need to know about Shareaza and more. However, the use of the forums and wiki are quite different. For example, if you want to find an answer to a question you have, it would be best to look around here first. This is because the stuff here is of higher quality than in the forums, because the tactic around here is quality, not quantity. Think of the wiki as an easy edit web page. If you have found a new solution or would like to finish an incomplete page, it is a great place to come and contribute. The forums are a good place to turn if you can't find what you need here or you have news to post. Both places are moderated, to keep both systems clean and orderly.

How do I find stuff?

The best place you may find is the links on the Main Page. If you have a problem, click the Troubleshooting link. If you have a question, click the Frequently Asked Questions link. If you don't see what you need anywhere, try searching for what you need in the search box embedded in the left column.

How can I contribute to the Wiki?

You can feel free to write anything you think would be helpful for other users. If you see a section lacking content, feel free to add on to it. If you wish, you can also create a whole new section of useful information. As with the forums, you must register before doing anything to the wiki. Sourceforge also requires that we manually assign permissions, so if you cannot edit pages then you may need to ask an admin to give you edit permissions. When editing pages please use the Comment box to document briefly what you changed. It makes it easier on everyone who is following that page. And please don't write text with copyright, you must know that many websites have their texts with copyright.

How do I edit a page?

If you are allowed to edit a page, you can do so by clicking 'edit' at the top of the page. Note that some pages may not be editable to you - one example might be the home page. It is to prevent people editing the home page to suit their own tastes, spam for instance. This place is still moderated, so don't expect to get away with anything. It is not cool and it is not hacking if you delete the contents of a page and put up something profane, or inappropriate.

How do I create a page?

In order to create a page you first have to have a wiki link to the new page on an existing page.

  1. To create a new wikipage reference link: JoinCapitalizedWords or use [[page]] or [[page|desc]].
  2. Once that is done you click on the new wiki link and it will create the new page for you and allow you to edit it. For example TestWikiLink.
  3. Page names can only include letters (the 26 from the English alphabet), numbers, or the period.

How do I format text?

These instuctions are often found below the edit box. Common mistakes are including one " instead of two '' for italic text, and two underscores (__) instead of (''') for bold text, (without the parentheses of course). You can practice your skills as much as you need in the SandBox and no one will yell at you for screwing it up because it is just a test page for people to practice. If you are editting a specific page and want to know how it looks before submitting it use the "preview" button that is just above the "save" button.
