What is adware?
Adware is a general term used to describe software designed to display ads to you. It includes programs that hijack webpages and redirect you to adverts, code that resets your home page to some awful sponsored search, and hidden programs that stay in memory popping open adverts every now and then.
It is very annoying, and often causes instability on your system. You can think of adware as spyware's annoying little brother.
S&D can detect and remove many types of adware.
Adware is often included in 'free' applications- P2P software, for example. It's hidden away in the installer, and gets put on your machine when you download and install the program. Some types of adware will even display ads when you are not using the software it was bundled with, and other types even try to redirect your internet shopping to earn someone else a commission. It can be very nasty stuff.
Shareaza does not contain any adware.
