Gaining acces to your router settings

• Open your web browser and type http://192.168.10.1 in the address bar. You will be directed to a page that looks like this.

• Type in your User ID and Password. If you haven't set up either one then use admin as the User ID and motorola as the Password. These are the factory defaults.

• Once you are logged in select Networking from the menu at the left.

• Inside the networking menu you will be presented with several tabs. Select the one labeled Virtual Server. It will be the second one from the right.

• You will now need to set up a new entry into the VS table using the following information.
  • Virtual Server Name: Shareaza (You can use any name you'd like but this one is nice and simple. Also, and this is important, make sure you check the enable box next to it. No point in setting up the whole thing only to have it be turned off.)
  • Incoming Protocol: BOTH (This will enable both TCP and UDP access.)
  • Incoming port: 6346 (6346 is the default value for Shareaza but you can use any port you want, just make sure it's the same one Shareaza is using.)
  • Forwarding IP: (This is the internal address the router has assigned to your computer. You can find out what it is by following these simple steps:
    • Open the start menu and select 'Run...', a dialog box will appear.
    • In that box, enter 'cmd' and click on 'OK'. (On Windows 95, 98 and Me, enter 'command' instead.)
    • A DOS box will appear. In that box, enter the command 'ipconfig'. (On Windows 95, 98 and Me, enter 'winipcfg' instead.)
    • This command prints several lines, most likely it will print three lines which are the "IP-Address", the "Subnet Mask" and the "Standard Gateway". The first one is the IP address of your computer and the third one is the IP address of your gateway. If you have a router, then your gateway is your router and the gateway's IP is the router's IP. Enter the IP address into the blank, most of it will already be filled in for you.
  • Forwarding port: 6346 (It should be the same as the Incoming port.)
  • Schedule: check the box for Everyday and the radial button for 24 Hours.
• The completed settings look like this on my router. Yours should be pretty close to this. The only differences might be the Incoming and Forwarding ports as well as the Forwarding IP.

• The final steps are to press Add, then Apply; after which the Restart button should begin to blink. Press Restart. This will cause the router to turn off and then back on.

• Now all that's left to do is to test your firewall settings to see if they "took". your router and firewall settings
