I've lost my downloads. How can I get them back?

There are two common reasons downloads seem to disappear from the transfers tab: Firstly, if auto clear is on, completed downloads will be removed after a few seconds. Nothing has gone wrong. The file will be in your library, ready to use. The second reason is that you may have filtered the download out of the list. It's still there, just not showing. If groups are enabled (the tabs along the top) make sure you are set on 'All'. Additionally, check the 'Filter' options on the bottom left to make sure all downloads are displayed.

If neither of these things have happened, and a download that you started has disappeared from your list, you may have lost the download. Losing your downloads usually happens when an unexpected crash or shutdown occurs, and data is improperly written to the hard drive. It is very rare for this to happen. Shareaza writes backup files to prevent it. It also may happen if you downgraded Shareaza.

However, even if a download has been lost, it may be possible to recover it. Users who have lost their downloads and want to get them back may try the methods below:

Preferred Method:

This is a small feature built into Shareaza that can be used to recover any downloads that have been lost. It is reasonably simple, and has a very high rate of success. It can also be used to import partials from other applications.

Alternate Method:

This solution uses a small application called 'Donkey Doctor' to recover your downloads. This is an alternate method, provided in case the first option does not work. It is more complicated and is less likely to succeed. Furthermore, it can only be attempted on files from the ed2k network.
