Bits and Bytes

This page has been written to inform about the difference between the units Bit ( b ) and Byte ( B ), as many users have problems with them.

One byte has 8 bit. This means 8b = 1B and 8kbps (= 8 kb/s) = 1 KB/s.

If you convert from bits to bytes, you will need to divide by 8, however if you convert from bytes to bits, you will need to multiply the number by 8.
