How can I use Shareaza behind my D-Link DSL-500/504 Router?

Step 1 Open your web browser and enter the IP address of your router (Usually 192.168.0.1).

Click "Login to the web-based management module"

Step 2

  • Enter user name and password. (If you have not changed them, the user and password are both admin).
  • Click OK

Step 3

Click "configuration", then "port redirection" {picture file=img/wiki_up//dlink500-2.png}

Step 4

  • Make sure state is enabled
  • Set protocol to TCP
  • Set start and end port to the port that Shareaza is using
  • Set Local IP Address to the IP of the machine you want to run Shareaza on.
  • Click Add, then Apply.
  • Make sure state is enabled
  • Set protocol to UDP
  • Set start and end port to the port that Shareaza is using
  • Set Local IP Address to the IP of the machine you want to run Shareaza on.
  • Click Add, then Apply.


Step 5 Click "save changes and reboot". The router will now restart with the new settings.

Step 6 (optional) To reduce the chances of your router disconnecting under heavy load, you can make additional tweaks to the settings, if you desire.

Go to Configuration > IP Masquerade Timer

  • Set the TCP timeout value to 5 minutes
  • Set the UDP timeout value to 1 minute
  • Click OK, and then "Save changes and reboot"
