shareaza keeps stealing magnet link association

i recently installed shareaza and it took the magnet link association from utorrent. i deselected the magnet association in shareaza and reassociated in utorrent, but every time i start shareaza it steals the magnet association again, even though it's not selected in the options. anyone got a solution?

With options you mean: "Settings/General/Web/Peer to Peer link handling/magnet?"

yes. in desperation i have now unchecked everything under it, not just the magnet link, but with no result.

It does not seem right at all, but it nevertheless happens. After i close and re-open shareaza the boxes remain unchecked, so the settings are presumably saved, but shareaza still retakes magnet association upon re-open.

It means Windows hasn't released association ... when this happens to me for torrents I reassociate the torrent back to uTorrent through uTorrent's settings menu. Also try to use Windows feature to "Open With", this also works.

It doesn't have anything to do with windows, it has to do with shareaza retaking the association with every start, even though it shouldn't. Everything works fine, utorrent's associations keep until shareaza is opened again.

Open with won't do me any good because it deals with file extension association, and my problem is the magnet URI association.

I discovered a workaround. Shareaza steals firefox's default magnet application association, so i told firefox to use a secondary application for handling magnet URIs and made utorrent it. So now even when shareaza changes the default application for magnet to itself, it doesn't matter because firefox is istructed not to use the default application.

Exactly same issue, was unable to change protocol association in WIndows settings. After wasting 2 hours of my time, i ended up configuring Firefox (Options/Applications/ magnet), but Shareaza still steals magnet association on the OS level (Win. 10 in my case), even magnet association is unchecked in Shareaza settings. Hope this bug will be fixed in Shareaza.
