Could video ripping from the internet be added?

Postby punkmaister » 18 Feb 2010 19:37

I know it sounds like a stretch but this application rocks and if it could be turned into the one stop center to share upload/download and even rip videos of the net I'm all for it. Again just a suggestion...

+1

EDIT: Noticed the +1 doesn't have the quote for kevo added as well. I meant to +1 for his "No" response. Truly sorry for the confusion, I'm not crazy  .

I'm sure it COULD be somehow, but it will not be added to shareaza. This is the same reason why it does not include a web browser, CD ripping functionality, skype, or an alarm clock. When you start to add all kinds of unnecessary functionality not only does it get harder to maintain the code and skin/translate (remember, shareaza is available in 30 languages), but it distracts developers from improving much more important parts of the interface and it inevitably creates more bugs. Some (not me) would also argue that it creates an excessively large installer.

Either directly downloading or copying from browser cache the file the flash applet on YouTube or other video site is playing. And no, it makes no sense to add this to Shareaza. This feature has to integrate to the browser not to a P2P app. Just configure it to "rip" the file to a folder shared by Shareaza.
