What happened to scheduling?

Postby inge12 » 21 Jun 2010 02:37

I just installed Shareaze 2.5.3.0 on Windows XP, and I was disappointed to find that I could not schedule the hours for Shareaza to be active.

I access the internet via satellite, and I have a download limit during the day, but no restrictions for 5 hours at night. So when I had to download a huge file for Linux installation, I told Shareaza what hours to connect, and it took three nights to download the whole file.

Without that scheduling option, Shareaza is not very useful to me. For instance, I would have been FAPPED the first time I tried to download the Linux installation file, and for the following 24 hours, I would have had barely enough internet access to pick up my email.

I see that I can schedule when to download individual files, but I can see no place to tell Shareaza which hours of the day to do downloading and sharing.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you miss the completely redesigned scheduler.

Switch your application to power mode, if you haven't done so already and use view menu to access it.

Thanks for your reply. :)

I had already accessed the scheduler as View/Advanced/Scheduler. However, I saw only the ability to schedule individual "events" and didn't look further.

In response to your note, I did check the Scheduler again and see that I can limit Shareaza bandwidth to certain hours once I right-click on "Add event." However, I don't see the daily active times as an "event."

I believe that the original interface with a visual table of hours of the day was not only more intuitive but was also less subject to typos.

But that's just my opinion. ;)

Thanks for the help. :)

Yes, but the new one allows to do much more complex tasks to be scheduled. Also, we are still working on it and we are planning to improve the design of it to make the overview better.
Also, this allows us to add more types of rules that are available at a later time.

Yeah ... I got the idea of "more complex scheduling." ;)

And now that I found it, I'm okay with the interface.

I haven't tried it yet, but I hope I can just set up a bunch of files to download, and they will automatically be downloaded during the night.
