Issue with ed2k link downloads

Postby kphippin » 19 Nov 2010 05:26

Unsure if this is a general help or a bug issue.

I am having this issue on 2 different computers running Win7 Pro/x64.
I am new to using Win7, never had any issues with Shareaza in Win XP.

Was unable to find a similar issue in the forum.

When clicking on an ed2k link I get 2 pop-up messages.

Download doesn't start and isn't added to download list.
The only way I can download is to manually copy and paste the ed2k links in the "Tools - Download File/Torrent" link in the menu.

No problems with downloads from Shareaza searches. Only with the external ed2k links.
Not just related to any one site.

Using Shareaza_2.5.3.0_Win32.

Links seem to work fine with eMule 0.50a.

Thanks,
Ken

Edit: Sorry for the error, put up clean pics :D

Further update. If I right click on the ed2k link and select the "Download with Shareaza" link I get the following pop-up:

Unsure if this helps any or not, just thought that I would include it as well.

That he was using IE was obvious, but isn't the question whether he is using the 64 or the 32 bit version? He should be using the 64 bit version since that is the 64 bit webhook, but a version mismatch could also be his problem. Anyway, I think that if you enable the webhook to handle all downloads even the P2P downloads will go thru it. I've never used this (don't use IE), but going to general/web and unchecking the check box for using Shareaza to manage your downloads might help.

Maybe he should try out using the x64 version of Shareaza.

EDIT: See this topic for the x64 version of Shareaza: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=859

I am using Win7 x64, IE8 32bit, and shareaza x86 version. It also does the same thing in IE8 64bit.
It does the same thing whether the download manager is checked or not.
It doesn't download web url's either.

I used sites that used magnet links in the past and never had any issues. This is a new issue to me, as I haven't used standard ed2k links in quite a while.

Although, it seems that the magnet link given on the page linked to above, doesn't worked either.
Only difference is the magnet:?xt=urn:bitprint: instead of the ed2k://|file| header in the first pic.
Otherwise it is the very same pop-up.

As I said before....I am new to Win7, I have never had any issues at all when using with Win XP.

Doesn't seem to effect usage in Firefox, works fine....Just in IE8

I have tried to download the x64 version from that link above before. It has remained in my list for over a month with no sources.
Is there a direct link somewhere? I have been unable to find a source.

It seems to me that the IE BHO install "broke" somehow. Still don't use IE, but IIRC it does allow you to disable and uninstall BHOs somewhere (sorry...), removing anything related to razawebhook or Shareaza from there should help. Also remove and re-apply Shareaza as handler for the P2P link types.
