To get rid of the selection in the download pane, I clicked a file more or less at random, and then control-clicked the same file to deselect it.
I've done this several times with various versions of Shareaza, including r8848, without anything abnormal happening.
Until now.
This time, it popped up some thing saying something about generating a preview or something. Since I did not tell it to do anything of the sort and the unexpected, unwanted popup had a "cancel" button, I clicked that. Subsequently, the file was still selected in the download tab, so I control-clicked it again to deselect it.
The entire Shareaza window simply disappeared, replaced by a weird little grey box only a few pixels high and about as wide as a typical desktop icon with a little green progress meter inside. Then that also disappeared. The task manager showed no Shareaza task running.
I did not tell Shareaza to close. I had searches and downloads in progress.
This is clearly not only an incorrect response to control-clicking a download to deselect it, but a SEVERELY incorrect response.
As such, I must insist that it NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
Applications that I am using are to remain open until >>>I<<< choose to exit them. Until that time they are to remain on my desktop at my beck and call, and when I give them instructions they are to obey them with no sass, lip, quibbling, or backtalk, nor significant delay. Furthermore, they are to obey them to the letter and in a consistent and predictable way. In particular, if I control click a selected item they are to deselect that item 100% of the time. They are not to deselect it 98% of the time, generate a preview of something 1% of the time, and behave as if I chose "exit" from the "file" menu 1% of the time; they are simply to deselect the item without attempting to second-guess me, make up their own minds what I *really* wanted, or otherwise get creative. I do not install software so that it can do my thinking for me or otherwise behave as if it has a mind of its own. I install software so that I can have a perfectly obedient and predictable tool at my disposal.
Have I made myself clear?
