Big problem :D

Postby fmha » 16 Jan 2011 14:27

I am faceing very strange problem with the Sheraza.
I have:
1- THOMSON TG585 v7 dsl modem firewall
2- ESET Smart Security which has firewall
3- Win XP sp3 firewall
:D
means I am facing three firewalls,,,
I have configured the port 6346 in each of the firewalls, noting in the modem Shareaza port is already installed to the assign list of "Game & Application Sharing" and the UPnP is enabled and installed in the windows.
I have tried to turn them off one by one, also tried by turning them ALL off, still not passed in the Shareaza Connection Test.
:?
Using a program called portforward the result comes as following:
For TCP:
Ping Result: We are no able to ping your rounter.
Port Check Result: Your port is OPEN on this cumputer.
For UDP:
Ping Result: We are no able to ping your rounter.
Port Check Result: Your port is NOT OPEN or not reachable.
The program connects to eDonky, but for G2 gives 1 or 2 hubs and G1 3 ultrapeers.
Does not download in even few bytes, but the upload is good.
:o
Note: When first I installed it I have it Connected for all three connection and download is good. When I co0nfigured the port and did the test it passed TCP and failed in the UDP. When I tried to fix UDP, the TCP went wrong too.
Trying to solve it I have reseted evering thing to normal and uninstalled the program and deleted all related files in regedit and the computer.
 ANY one can help!?
PLEASE

If you disabled all three firewalls and still didn't pass the connection test (from within the Help menu of Shareaza), then my bet is that it's because you didn't forwarded a port for Shareaza on your router. Indeed, the Thomson TG585v7 (the links for the user guides seem to be broken :/ ) also has a built-in router, so you'll need to forward a port for Shareaza on it (6346 by default, but I'd suggest you change that number in both Shareaza and the router because some ISPs tend to filter default P2P ports).

How do you forward a port? Since UPnP failed to work, first you'll need to set up a static local IP address, and then to access your router's administration interface and forward a port, both for TCP and UDP. If as stated on this forum thread the router screen of your box is similar to the screens of the SpeedTouch585i, this page might be helpful.

If you have only one computer connected to that modem/router, the other option is to simply disable the router -- if this option is offered.

Also note that it is generally bad to have more than one firewall active on a PC, as both security systems may limit the functionality of the other and at the end your overall security is smaller as if you had only one of them active. If I were you, I'd disable the Windows firewall...

Disable UPnP in Shareaza and use the Games and applications Sharing with a Static IP.
