Unable to download torrents

Postby aikno » 20 Jun 2011 16:23

Hi,
I am not able to download torrents! it keeps searching for sources but never seems to find them!
When I use uTorrent the torrent is downloaded normally and it finds 45 seeds. With Shareaza if I use the torent file instead of the magnet link shareaza finds 3 sources but the download never starts. With magnet links shareaza never finds anything!
This only seems to happen with some torrent's, but if I try the exact same torrents with utorrent they are downloaded normally.
These torrent's that don't seem to work came from btjunkie. The one I was able to download came from Gamershell.
Its not a connection issue, connection test says that both TCP and UDP are fine. "Congratulations, everything seems to be fine and Shareaza should work properly."
Also Gnutella downloads work property.

Anyone knows what could this be?

I noticed at the time that one of the trackers used by the torrent was down.
Could this be the reason for Shareaza not being able to download a torrent that uTorrent downloads?
Are trackers the only way of Shareaza getting sources? doesn't it uses it use other ways?
Does utorrent has more ways of getting sources than Shareaza?

You can try this to get DHT sources within Shareaza: viewtopic.php?f=2&p=4483#p4483

Also so trackers have bans for particular clients (including Shareaza) for reasons I never bothered to find out. Shareaza reports this as "tracker down". IIRC system log shows the actual response.

And the absolute easiest way is to find the same files on a different torrent using different tracker that works. If you can't find one, using another client was a smart solution IMHO.
