DC++ options and torrent issues

Postby aikno » 13 Jun 2012 14:19

I have tried to use Shareaza last year but stooped due to the lack of DHT support. Now that Shareaza as DHT support start using it again. So I am new to this and have some questions...

I am running Shareaza 2.6 - 64bits and under tools -> Shareaza Settings -> Networks there are no options for DC++ network. Why is that? Is there nothing to configure in this network?
I think that at the time of installation I choose to connect to DC++ and now every time I open the program Shareaza automatically attempts to connects to the network. How can I disable this?
Also related with the DC++ for some reason Shareaza is not able to connect to this network. There are no connections to DC++ in "Network" tab. Do I need any further configuration ?

Regarding BitTorrent, if I start a new torrent for which I already have some of the files in my "Completed Files" folder Shareaza doesn't automatically merge the files as stated in the ChangLog
After I had manually merged the download with the already completed files Shareaza proceeded with the normal download, so far so good. The problem is that I told Shareaza to don't download some of the files (right-click -> Properties -> Files -> Priority -> Off) and Shareaza download them anyway. I was forced to pause the torrent and for that reason I am unable to seed it.

how to connect to dc++

1. search hub list from dchublist.com, an download "*.xml.bz2"
2. go to host cache (F8),right click, import met file..., choose dc++ hub list, ok <- the *.xml.bz2 that you previously downloaded
3. choose any hub you would like to connect

dc++ setting on advance tab, if you don't want to auto connect, set dc.enablealways = false

Hi, Thanks I do not know much about DC++...
I am not able to connect even though I added the hub as andhee suggested. Nothing happens DC++ Host Cache list stays blank
dchublist.com appears to be down so I have download it from here http://www.besthublist.com/.

Is the 64 bit version as stable as the 32 bits ?

Something that I also noticed, after starting a torrent that I have already partially download and if I choose to don't download more files that the ones that I already have Shareaza doesn't start seeding and removes the torrent from the download list. Is this by design ?

As far as I could understand the process of merging torrent downloaded files with already existing files is a little bit weird. If I have the files in the completed download folder and tell Shareaza to merge them, Shareaza will move the files from the "completed downloads" to the "Incomplete downloads" folder and after all the files are checked (hash check I guess) Shareaza moves them back to the completed download folder. Why does Shareaza needs to move files around this way takes a lot more time and takes more disk space since the files will be in completed downloads and incomplete downloads folders.

And again torrents don't seem to Auto Merge. I tested with other torrent and Shareaza starts downloading doesn't automatically detects that the files are already in the library I have to merge them manually.

in my humble observation, shareaza behave like that because of it's basic original design, shareaza add torrent function at v2.2 if i'm not mistaken, before that, it only share single file through ed2k, g1, g2

torrent function best behave at single file torrent, in multiple file torrent not so much because it descent from single file share, when the developer change the protocol, so we can download not all files from multiple torrent, the *. partial not compatible (2.4 -> 2.5)

the advantage of shareaza is download from multiple network onto single file, you can download a file, half from torrent, half from g2, half from ed2k.. this is what i like about shareaza... it work best on single file content

if you like to be dedicated seeder, there is other software work best for this function

Where can I find the Seed button. So you mean the "Seed a torrent" option in Shareaza Home tab?
If you mean this yes it starts seeding.
