seeing myself

Postby flitox » 16 Nov 2012 18:23

hello,

today after selecting see all sources, i've notice that i'm seeing myself when develloping the list of peers of files. curiously i've very old incomplete files in it where it seems i'm still the only peers while some says they are no source (which is certainly true but surprising as being incomplete i should have seen myself then....)
and by the way, i'm seeing myself as a g2 peers with push between brackets at the end, which in general says in firewall, which i'm not despite what shareaza now always me to believe!!
never got a clear answer for that too and it's have been this way since i've switched to win7 more than 2 years ago (okay at first i even had to emulate as xp for shareaza as it wasn't yet win7 compatible)

also if someone would reply here
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1280#p9114

thanks

Would you mind telling us your results of the connection test? If it shows all green, you're really without firewall (or similar traffic blocking system) and we can use this as a starting point for a more detailed analysis of your problem.

Shareaza filters out your own IP from the sources. That is why you don't see yourself on most downloads. However if your IP changes and you do connect to a source that still knows you under your previous IP, your old IP will be forwarded to you as a source.

EDIT: @Connection Test, those are good results, so you shouldn't have to worry about any connectivity related issues.

i know those result are good, i'm a long time shareaza user and i've since learn how to open the posts of my router & firewall.

but as soon as i get connected to G2 (i'm connected to 2 hub and it's appearing when the connection is made with the 2nd hub!! when i'm connected to one but still trying to reach the 2nd, there's no message) i'm seeing this on the shareaza main page

for seeing myself, it's still happening today and i'm pretty sure my ip has not change since i launch shareaza.

The test uses UDP, so if your connection is congested (quite possible when connecting) the packets will be dropped and firewall detection will fail. Lots of possible reasons, but the important thing is that the detection is not 100% reliable and you can turn it off when you already know whether you are firewalled or not.

Just go to the settings and set "can accept incoming connections" to true.

now for seeing myself, all but one have a old ip address, that remainging one is having the same ip that is written in the bottom right corner.

This is indeed strange and might be a bug. Does it have the same port number, too?

One thing is sure: you will only see yourself if by chance one other peer still knows your old IP and forwards it back to you. This might or might not happen...
