Disappearing downloads?

Postby hempick1 » 30 Jan 2013 04:58

Hey all, for months now whenever I start downloading something if I close the program and then reopen it again at any other time (5 minutes later, 2 days, a month, etc) any partial downloads I had disappear. This is very frustrating because it means that typically I am only able to download very small files unless I leave my computer on for several days in a row. (I don't like to do that because my computer is in my room and it bothers me a bit when I am sleeping.)

I haven't changed any settings that I know of, but I did change from a 32bit OS to a 64bit one about 5 or 6 months ago.

Thanks!

What Shareaza version are you using?

Have you checked whether you have write access to your incompletes directory? (See your settings for the location of that directory on your computer.) Are there any files in there?

I'm using 2.6.0.0 and I just checked and it was set to read only. However, I was unable to change that. Even when I created a new folder, it was still always read only.

Go to the folder's properties. Within the security tab you can edit who has read/write access to that folder.

Solutions I've tried:I have the latest version of Shareaza that I downloaded again today. I have checked the FAQs and I do have 'write' permissions to my incomplete files. My incomplete file list is loaded with entries.

My problem is:
When I close Shareaza, my transfer file active downloads disappear. There is only one which remains intact but, it isn't budging.

When I restart Shareaza and start the downloads for the missing files that were almost complete, I get a 'download completed' signal (green text). But, when I click on the supposedly 'completed files', they are only 1.07 kb or 232 bytes etc.

How can this be corrected?

I am having the exact same problem. I thouht it started when I changed where my incomplete directory was but now I dont think so. I have tried an uninstall and cleaned up any reference to shareaza in the registry. Still no luck. For me the partiial download gets gone even if the download sits in cue waitning for another source.

Yeah, I can create files and modify them.

I actually changed the path to a different folder before you suggested it.

Now what happens is that one file stays in my downloads list, but other files disappear after closing and reopening the program.

Oddly enough past searches stay after closing/reopening.

(I should also mention that the volume slider for the media player hasn't worked for a long time.)

Searches stay open because they are not stored within the incompletes directory.

I'd suggest for you to do a clean install any see whether the problem persists: Try out this script I have written some time ago to do all the necessary steps.

Afterwards, get the latest (beta) version of Shareaza and install it anew.

Plz report back here if you're still getting the problem afterwards.

PS.: Did you ever tell us the operating system version you are operating on?

it's a bug from 2.6.0.0

only happens if you download from search or g2 link when the temp file name start with sha_...

but, no prob with magnet or torrent or ed2k download

so we actually need 2.6.1.0 right away... :D

Hello,
i suppose you are suffering from one of the 2.6 bugs.

after you have closed shareaza, go to your incomplete folder, you should have files with the .sav extention. simply rename that extention to .sd and they will be back for good in your download queue.
now to avoid this, do not download files by clicking 'download now' but click download instead.

that bugs has been fixed, i believe in the beta version, unfortunatly nobody have think it was a good idea to release a 2.6.1 with a fix......

Actually, I did what flitox suggested and it worked. All of my old incomplete searches appeared in Shareaza the next time I started it after changing the extensions.

I got in the habit of always clicking "Download Now" rather than just "Download" so I guess that was my problem.

Where is the "Download Now" button located?

When you right click on a file in the search window, there are two options. Download and Download Now. I used to just double click the file I wanted, but then my queue was so long that clicking Download Now would bypass the queue and start the file right away.
