I've been on the eMule forum asking about a legal issue. Someone said I should ask someone on the Shareaza forum.
A detective wrote in his affidavit that he connected to Gnutella using Shareaza to make a 1 to 1 connection on defendant's computer. Defendant's alleged illegal file was affirmed to be acquired from the eDonkey network because defendant only used eMule to get this file.
The question is can a user go through Gnutella using Shareaza, connect to eDonkey, then get onto a computer (and the cops apparently do not have to issue a warrant for this), make a direct 1 to 1 connection, locate file and then download it? Would he have to go through eMule to find this file? I believe he had the hash value, so they could I suppose search for the file on his computer a variety of ways, like a particular hash value (right?). If the file is only on the eDonkey network but they're connected to eDonkey through Gnutella, can they make a 1 to 1 connection. Wouldn't that be a security breach?
